Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos
A robot vacuum is the ideal tool to maintain the cleanliness of your home. It will remove dust, pet hair, and other surface debris before it causes a bigger problem.
Some robots are able to sync with smart assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant for a hands-free experience. Look for models that can be recharged and continue cleaning the area they left.
1. iRobot S8
This smart robot mop and vacuum combo is an excellent option for a wide range of households. It is able to vacuum and mop well and is extremely navigable using both GPS and laser sensors and offers a broad range of features and controls available via the app. It comes with a useful feature which allows you to create Cleaning zones in areas that require extra attention, and also to create Keep Out zones in areas you do not want it to go. It also gets software updates, similar to all Roomba products, which enhance it over time.
It's costly, but it's also among the most advanced robot vacuums ZDNet has tested. It's equipped with a powerful battery that can vacuum a large home in under two hours. It can switch between vacuuming and mopping with the press of one button. It automatically empties the dust bin above its charging station, in contrast to other self-emptying robots that require you to empty it after every run.
It comes with a variety of other features that make it a great choice for homes of all sizes that include intelligent obstacle avoidance, which uses the camera as well as processor-powered smarts to see obstacles. It is rarely derailed or stuck during a cleaning cycle. In my tests it was the best at avoiding objects like power cables. However, it isn't as accurate in detecting pet waste or other hazards.
2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8
Eufy, owned by Anker It has become an iconic name in the world of robots that are budget-friendly vacuums. However, it didn't offer an option to mop. This is changing with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive suite of advanced features that can compete against more expensive models.
The main selling point of Eufy's the X8 is its laser navigation. Previous Eufy devices have built up a rough map of your home by using infrared sensors and bumping into things but the X8's laser mapping system is more precise. It takes less time to build an extensive map of your home and can store multiple maps. This is great for homes with multiple floors.
The X8 is still a decent vacuum on floors with no dust, slinging debris under its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with relative ease. Its tyres are adept at securing corners and edges, even though they are circular. It's not a great kitty litter scooper, however, with our tests showing it only removes about 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.
The basic mopping mode uses the same water reservoir as the vacuuming mode. This is ideal for spills that are not serious, but you cannot limit the amount of water it consumes. It does, however, do an admirable job of picking up pet hair, with a better speed of pickup than the Roborock S7.
3. Miele RX2
Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, effective appliances. It features a stunning design, excellent navigation and a powerful cleaning power. There are a few niggles in its operation, which prevent it from being ranked as the best smart robot vacuum.
The RX2 is equipped with a dual-sensor mapping technology which uses LIDAR to map an area as well as a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and eliminating obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once the room is mapped the app allows you to designate virtual no-go zones and areas that you want to clean. will automatically clean. You can also initiate a manual clean or manually change the cleaning mode, see a live feed from the onboard cameras, and more on the main screen.
The RX2 has superior sensors that can identify furniture and other obstructions instantly. The suction and sweeping capabilities are exceptional, removing surface litter from carpets with medium pile as well as embedded dust on floors. It's not the most powerful robot on the market. Like many other robots it's not a great climber and is prone to problems with things like metal threshold transition strips.

4. Shark ION
This budget robovac that is similar to other, but has some extra features and a better performance. Its intelligent mapping system creates 3D and 2-D maps of your house and makes use of them to navigate and avoid obstacles. It's also able to detect common obstacles like furniture legs and power cords in real time. The combination of sensors with a bump detector and an infrared sensor that keeps the vacuum off the stairs makes it one of our most agile vacuums.
In our tests, it was able to could climb over the thick shag rug and didn't get stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation abilities were impressive as well and its overall score on carpet and bare floors was better than the competition, and it took in 98.5 percent of the surface litter and embedded pet hair from our lab test samples.
The controls are more basic than the competition's. There's a cleaning button on the top and you can start it by using the app or voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule weekly or daily cleanings, designate no-go zones and check its cleaning history. In a smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks stylish in your home. Its rear dustbin is easily accessible to empty, and the removal of the filters is also easy.
5. Eufy 11S
Eufy 11S is a good option for those looking for a vacuum cleaner that is easy to use and has no frills at a cost that is low. It lacks some of the smart features, such as digital mapping and Alexa integration, which are available in higher-end models but if you're not looking for these features, you can save a little cost with this model.
This robot is very easy to set up and use. It doesn't require smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However, it does come with the remote control that lets you choose between different modes and adjust suction level. It also lets you manually take the robovac off on a scheduled cleaning.
In our tests, the 11S was extremely effective in getting rid of pet hair and dirt on hard floors and in carpets with a low pile. Its slim profile helped it reach under furniture and other low items that more bulkier robots couldn't reach. It was also able to get over thresholds for doors and transition between floors and another.
The 11S, as with other robots, can also eat some items, including cords and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you can prevent this from happening by keeping these objects off the ground and using a cord organiser whenever possible. It also recommends cleaning the dustbin periodically by replacing the filters and changing or washing the brushes as needed.
Roomba 990 from iRobot
The Roomba 980 is iRobot's flagship robot vacuum. It's expensive however it's top-performing and arguably the most advanced robot vacuum you can purchase. Its self-navigation and environmental mapping is a marvel to behold. It has more advanced automation than the majority of its competitors, such as the ability to set up virtual boundary markers through its mobile application. It's a capable robot vacuum, even if its application is a bit slow and the 980's wheels spin out when it is pushed over cables.
One thing we really like about the 980 is the fact that it utilizes its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneous localisation and mapping technology (or vSLAM) to memorise the floor plan of your home. It uses this information to create a consistent, efficient cleaning path through each cycle. The result is cleaner floors, and a cleaner vacuum than most competing high-end robot vacuums.
Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that grab dirt from carpets and hard floors and a spinning brush to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum’s bin. robot vacuum that vacuums and mops tracking sensors help it navigate across furniture and along edges, and Cliff Detect keeps the Roomba from falling down stairs. It will also return to the base station to allow for recharges between sessions. While the 980's battery life and bin size isn't as impressive as other robot vacuums it's a reliable and solid machine that can keep your floors spotless for hours on end.
